A few days before Delphine died, she talked about going to Heaven.
“People say Jesus is going to meet them at the gate. I’ve never been to Heaven, but I’ve been to Manton camp.
“You know how the tabernacle’s at the center, but we park way out by the ball field? And two or three friends meet us at the car before we get the doors open. So we sit and chat thru the windows.
“Then we grab an armload from the trunk while we talk with the next friends who come up.
“We head toward the campground but stop to talk with two more carloads who just arrived.
“The people in the first cabin are sitting on their porch, so we get caught up with them. When we push past their cabin, an old friend calls to us, so we turn and talk.
“Finally we make it to our cabin, and while we’re fishing for a key, two more families park on the doorstep to talk with us.
”Maybe two hours after we parked the car, we see the tabernacle.
“I’ll be glad to see Jesus, but I don’t know how long it will take me to get to Him.”
