Mother & the Chocolate Bug

On one of Mama’s visits, she made a chocolate layer cake, all round and lovely and covered with fudge icing. This was placed in a cake cover on top of the fridge — all safe from being attacked by 9 and 7 year olds.

However, whenever Mama walked past the cake something caused her to reach up and take a fingerful of chocolate cake goodness from the bottom layer. This eventually caused a strangely shaped cake to appear.

When she got the cake down at suppertime to cut slices for us, the kids wanted to know what happened to the cake. Mama explained that a Chocolate Bug must have gotten into it. They accepted that as fact and were ever after on the lookout for this cake-eating bug.
