I asked on Facebook, why would Obadiah skip the Mt. Carmel show?
Vicki Sandiford Floyd- Scouting out where to hide the prophets while looking for pastures for Ahab’s livestock. Or maybe Ahab threw a fit and restrained him after Obadiah told him Elijah was back to make sure that Obadiah wasn’t secretly in cahoots with Elijah. Maybe he gets lost in the caves trying to scout out places for the prophets. He barely makes it out. –
Sherry Chamblee – Ahab still had him looking for new pastureland for the animals? [Dave – It’s a natural extension of the story in scripture. I really like this idea.]
Rikki Strong – God has him prepping Eli’s moping cave? Cleaning it out, making sure the brook is clean of branches and overhanging birds nests upstream to make sure the water is clean and clear and healthy to drink?
Sharon K Connell Since you’re writing fiction, based on the Bible, but still fiction, you could add something into his life that the Bible doesn’t mention. Maybe he has an altercation with someone that might threaten to keep him from his task, maybe even threaten his life.
Melissa Paape Robertson – If Obadiah is over Ahab’s house, maybe Jezebel has him involved on some errand or project. Or something related to the drought, that is suddenly resolved when Elijah’s prayer for rain is answered.
